We got the book done in a few weeks.

I remember getting the proofs from the printer and felt something was missing. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it but something told me the manual required a little touch to make it special. This book needed to equal The Walking Dead franchise’s commitment to quality storytelling!

2013 Elantra ZSM Owner’s Manual

Regie, my writing partner, and I were considering what to do for San Diego Comic-Con 2012. We were told that Future US was creating a car that definitely struck the heart of The Walking Dead & Hyundai brands. Their Elantra was a primer colored, battle ready car with a weapon arsenal to survive the apocalypse. Some of the parts had names but, for the most part, I felt that the vehicle’s real credit to cool would be to build a story around it.

The 2013 Elantra Coupe ZSM

Hyundai and Skybound had already begun building a Zombie Survival Car for San Diego Comic-Con 2012. The vehicle was to be built by master crafter Gary Castillo of Design Craft Fabrication. The Elantra ZSE was already well into development and was under the direction of Robert Kirkman himself. Skybound provided illustrations to help the fabricators build what would be seen. The result was pretty cool in my opinion. Still, I wanted to see more and this lit a fire in me for the following year. I didn’t get to art direct any of this. But, it would pave the wave of inspiration and all good things to come.

This site serves as an extension of  my involvement with The Walking Dead Chop Shop project.

I was the concept creator and art director for this monster campaign. What I will attempt to do is showcase the entire creative process from cradle to the grave. Being a huge scifi nerd myself, it was a dream come true to work on a project so dear to me. Incidentally, I do collect all the comics and have been a die hard comics/scifi movie fan since I was 13.
