Yet again more photos from our build over at G.A.S!
While all our design work was going on for the app, Greg Braun, my ECD called me to discuss what else we could do to make the experience “epic”. We talked about the stellar success of the original SDCC 2012 Owner’s Manual. Frankly, we were both shocked at how popular that book had become and, even more so, the fervor of it’s eBay buyers.

Regie and I started chatting about what would be a cool continuation of our Walking Dead and Hyundai franchise. We both knew it needed to be sincere and different. Hyundai and Skybound had already begun building a Zombie Survival Car for San Diego Comic-Con 2012. The vehicle was to be built by master crafter Gary Castillo of Design Craft Fabrication. The Elantra ZSE was already well into development and was under the direction of Robert Kirkman himself. Skybound provided illustrations to help the fabricators build what would be seen. The result was pretty cool in my opinion. Still, I wanted to see more and this lit a fire in me for the following year. I didn’t get to art direct any of this. But, it would pave the wave of inspiration and all good things to come.
Around May 2012, I was freelancing at Innocean on a project for Hyundai. I remember sitting in my usual grind and hammering away for a deadline when my producer, Ashley, came in. She asked that I attend a meeting with my writer Regie Miller, mynameisregie.com , concerning AMC’s The Walking Dead.
